"But now, like I said, I got a woman so that’s all love and respect right there. I mean, when you find somebody who makes you happy and you make her happy, you are all just happy man, you're doing your thing, you're enjoying life, you just got to keep on striving and do you. You know, if that’s who you want to be with then why not. I mean if she floats your boat you’ve got to roll with it man. You can’t deny the inevitable."
T. Pratt: When you look at the Steppers coming out now, who do you have your eye on? Who do you think is really looking good right now? Give me three men and three women.
Dominique Robinson: Three men? Ouch [laughs]. Wow, three men, three women. Damn that’s bad. Honestly, when I look at the whole stepping scene … Do you mean as far as coming up as Beginners this year or …
T. Pratt: No, I mean guys [and ladies that have] been dancing three or four or five years.
Dominique Robinson: I will say Patrick. I still work with Patrick from time to time, when he feels like he wants to add something new. I think from Jerry Milwaukee.
T. Pratt: Is he from Milwaukee?
Dominique Robinson: Not light-skinned Jerry [Harris].
T. Pratt: Oh, okay.
Dominique Robinson: He danced with Ericka this year. I like Jerry’s style as far as his dance. I think he needs to probably add a little more footwork to what he does already.
T. Pratt: All right give me some women. I won’t force you to come up with [three].
Dominique Robinson: Unfortunately, I can’t even name three women from ’06 or ‘07.
T. Pratt: Or later.
Dominique Robinson: Honestly, on the woman side from the Beginners Categories from the past years, I don’t see nobody.
T. Pratt: None of the ladies from Detroit?
Dominique Robinson: Oh yeah, I’m sorry, excuse me. Keesha [Anderson], definitely Keesha. Keesha, oh my God, I don’t know how I forgot Keesha. Definitely, Anne [Hunter] from Detroit. Let me see who else I might be missing.
T. Pratt: I know I put you on the spot. I put you on the spot … y’all don’t hold it against him. (Laughing)
Dominique Robinson: Yeah hold up.
T. Pratt: Charge it to his head.
Dominique Robinson: Charge it to my head not my heart because this is like, you know, this is an on the spot interview. It’s all good we’re rolling. If I had to name a third guy it would be Jerry.
T. Pratt: Jerry Harris? Okay.
Dominique Robinson: Jerry Harris probably he needs to add a little more footwork to what he does, but definitely Jerry has the potential to do a lot of good shit out there on the dance floor.
T. Pratt: Yeah, I think so too.
Dominique Robinson: Yeah, he definitely has the talent. I’ve seen it. He has the potential he just got to put his mind on understanding music and what to do [with different music]. Another [lady] is Cheena but I think Cheena has been dancing longer.
T. Pratt: No, I think Cheena will probably fit in that category.
Dominique Robinson: Paula [Crawford] of Saint Louis.
T. Pratt: Yeah.
Dominique Robinson: Paula has gotten better. Paula, man I remember my first time dancing with Paula … from then to now is like night and day. Paula came a long way definitely. She’s doing her thing now. I can see some style and footwork. Cheena dances smooth like butter.
T. Pratt: When we used to do the sexiest man category, you were always in the running (Dominique Laughing) and all the women wanted to know what was going on with you and I now see you kind of mellowed out a little bit. What happened there man? I thought that you would be like a lifetime bachelor?
Dominique Robinson: (Laughing) You know some people are lifetime bachelors … I’m still not married so it depends on what you consider a bachelor. You know, I've got a woman but it’s like I’m still a sexy motherfucker. Don’t get it twisted.
T. Pratt: [Laughs]
Dominique Robinson: That ain’t stop the sex symbol thang.
T. Pratt: Right.
Dominique Robinson: But now, like I said, I got a woman so that’s all love and respect right there. You can’t deny the inevitable.
T. Pratt: Right.
Dominique Robinson: I mean that’s a good thing … I mean bachelor for life. I don’t think I have ever looked at myself like that, as far as being a bachelor for life. I figured eventually I’d be tied up with somebody [laughs]. It wasn’t nothing in the plans, it just happens. That just happens sometimes. You start talking to somebody and dating somebody and you go with the flow and both of y’all doing y’all thing. You’re enjoying your time together so you know you just go with it.
T. Pratt: Any closing thoughts Nique?
Dominique Robinson: Man, my thing [is for the] people coming up, please stop thinking tricks, flips, and dips are Steppin’. I mean it’s cool for a contest but out on the dance floor, first of all you do not have enough room to do all that. Go to your instructors whoever they meet maybe. Definitely learn floor etiquette. Please, I mean I see a lot of stuff going on and you know it can be in the middle of a song everybody out there got their spot. You got people running on the floor, bumping into people. I’m like wait 'till the next song. Give people that courtesy. Everybody got their spot, everybody got to adjust because you just want to jump out there bumping and running into everybody. That’s not cool. You know what I am saying, respect the dance you know what I am saying? Respect the dance, respect the music, and respect the ability of people who know how to dance, and you’ll getting a lot of further. And last but not the least, stay sucka free! Stay away from the people who always on BS; if they're on BS with other people telling you some BS guess what, when you're not around they probably got BS to say about you.
T. Pratt: That’s right.
Dominique Robinson: You know what I am saying? So that’s my thing on that.
T. Pratt: Alright Dominique, it’s good to have you. Thanks bruh.
Dominique Robinson: For sure, you know it’s always a pleasure to me.
