ChiStepper.com has partnered with the GDI Heritage Ball to bring you the first annual “Steppin’ Allstar Game.”  The Steppin’ Allstar Game will assemble some of THE BEST steppers in the nation to compete in a series of skill challenges.  While there are no major cash prizes or awards, many of the top dancers in the nation have already confirmed their participation to show off their skills amongst their fellow dancers.  We only have a limited number of spots, so please be mindful that top every interested top Stepper won’t dance this year. Read on for more details and to see the impressive list of participants already confirmed.

The Steppin’  Allstar Game Has 6 Major Categories.  Steppers will not compete in every category.  There categories are …

The Spinning Top (Male and Female Category)
Challenge: A small circle is created on the floor and each contestant is turned hard continuously in the circle by a male lead.  The winner will be the contestant who executes the most turns consecutively without going outside of the circle.  Stepping on the line is permitted.  Turns will be executed to the Steppers right side.

Turn Up The Heat (Female Competition)
Challenge:  Ladies will lead another lady through a series of consecutive turns without duplicating the same turn.  Once a turn is duplicated, the lady’s turn will be finished.  Contestants will be judged on the length of time that they go, the creativity of their turns, and how well executed their turns are.

Follow The Leader (Male Competition)
Challenge: A man will get lead through a series of sophisticated turns by another man. The man with the least amount of mess ups wins.  The audience will judge the male who follows the cleanest (i.e. with the fewest mistakes).

Armed and Dangerous Contest (Male lead, female follow)
Challenge: Couples will be joined left hand to left hand, with the right hand in their pocket.  If the right hand comes out of the pocket, they are automatically disqualified.   Without separating hands at any point in the dance, the couple that can execute the most creative dance with one hand is the winner.  If the hands separate, the couple is not disqualified, but their dance stops immediately.

Catch A Beat (Male Lead, Female Follow)
Challenge: This beat gives master levels couples extremely difficult music to dance to (House; Reggae, Disco, Afrobeat, Dancehall).  The couple is expected to find the rhythm in the song immediately and then execute a flawless dance.

Man on Man / Women on Women Competition (5 couples each)
Challenge:  This is a challenge of footwork skills dancing.  Two men and two women will dance one on one for a display of footwork and style.  Turning the following partner is not permitted but turning one’s self and direction changes are accepted.
